Dylan Todd Pozzolo, better known by his stage name Deezy Da Trap God, represents a compelling figure in the hip-hop music scene. Originating from the Northside Port Coquitlam area of Vancouver B.C., Canada, his affinity for the genre has been nurtured by a life deeply intertwined with street culture, which he leverages to create passionately raw and authentic music.
The gritty streets of the 1500 block of Grant Avenue, where Deezy was raised, served as the backdrop for his early immersion into the street life and gang scene. His challenging upbringing, punctuated by a diagnosis of ADHD and ASPD, further complicated his life's trajectory. However, it’s this tough upbringing that has shaped his unique musical style and narrative.
His academic journey led him through Terry Fox Secondary school in Port Coquitlam, a location colloquially known as PoCo or PoCompton due to the high crime rates. It was here, at the age of 15, that Deezy began to channel his experiences into his music, initially with the intention of becoming a producer. After seeing positive reactions to a track he freestyled on with his cousin Skribblez, he began to consider the possibility of a career as a rapper.
By 2019, Deezy Da Trap God had professionally released his first track, "I Got Racks (Freestyle)" through tunecore distribution. Following its success, he sealed a partnership deal, propelling his career and leading to the establishment of his own label, PHARMHOUSEproduction©️ Records LLC in 2021.
Deezy's raw, unfiltered lyrics and catchy beats have resonated strongly with fans and critics alike, leading him to be recognized as the Pioneer of the Trap-Hop Genre. This recognition has not only solidified his place in the music industry but has also attracted the attention of prestigious publications like Prove Magazine and The Source Hip-Hop Magazine, with whom he has conducted interviews.
His association with prominent figures in the industry has also been notable. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to work with the likes of JASEN, a multi-platinum music producer who boasts credentials with widely recognized artists like Lil Mosey, and has received support from rapper Lil Pump, leading to an exponential growth in his fanbase. He has also expressed intentions to collaborate with artists such as Lil Tracy, Lil Peep, Bankroll Fresh, and currently Kodak Black, 1900 Rugrat.
Despite his success, Deezy's journey has been far from smooth. His involvement with the gang scene has brought its share of challenges, one of which includes a reported altercation with SQUALÉ, one of DRAKE's producers. However, he has channeled these experiences into creating a brand, WittyGang™️, later evolving to Wy23Gy23™️ (MC), which presents a lifestyle rooted in gritty realism.
In leveraging his life experiences and passion for music, Deezy Da Trap God has unearthed a powerful narrative that resonates with audiences worldwide. His compelling story, underpinned by an unwavering dedication to authenticity, has positioned him as a notable figure in the hip hop music scene. Through his artistry, he continues to redefine the boundaries of the genre, promising a future that will further enhance his legacy in the world of music.
